Happy Love Day

I got boobs for Valentines from my boyfriend and I'm delighted!

Well rather I got this pin-up a day calender from Taschen, it's fantastic and it's got loads of pin-ups that I've never seen before. It's also useful as I can write little reminders for myself and it comes with a holder so I can sit it on my desk. Is it strange that John bought me what is essentially vintage porn rather than me buying it for him? I also got a very pretty necklace and a book about boxes...strange, but very interesting as I'm a design nerd. I'm chuffed that he knows me well enough not to buy boring things like chocolates and roses, it's also our 4 year anniversary this week, sadly he will be on a college trip in Dublin, but we had a lovely weekend so I don't mind too much.

Front Page Feature

I was away this weekend at a hen night celebration in Galway. So while I was shakin my thang on the dance floor I was featured on front pae on Etsy, yey! This is only my second time being featured so I still get a kick out of it. This time it led to two sales, so I was delighted. It's nice to be 'working' while having a mad laugh on my holidays. Sorry I can't get a link to the actual treasury, craftcult no longer give links, instead they have their own gallery view, very annoying as I would love to leave a comment saying thanks.
Sadly I partied a little too hard, and got very enthusiastic while dancing, and slipped and feel, twisting my ankle very badly. I ended up sitting on the stairs holding ice to my foot while medicating myself with beer. I haven't been able to walk since....another few days of rest and recovery should do the trick though.

1950's Pin-ups

Here are some cards I made yesterday. They are collaged together from some lovely paper I got in my local craft shop, odds and ends of ribbon, and a great 1950's pin-up book that I got in HMV about a year ago. I carefully cut around the ladies and then root through my box of papers to find patterns and colours that will match them. I also got a great label maker in Lidl ages ago, so I make sarcastic little comments for some of them. I'm also using my new stamp for the back of the cards instead of including a business card. This is way better as the recipient sees the logo and not just the sender. I really love making cards, I know there is not much money to be made from them compared to the time and materials that go into each one, but I enjoy it too much to stop making them.

I'll be selling them tomorrow at the Sunday Market in Limerick City, on Bedford Row, 12-5pm. They are 4 euro each or 3 for 10 euro, 0r if you wish to buy them online just contact me. This is my first week back at the market since Christmas Eve, I always get a little nervous going back, which is silly I know. It will be really nice to see all the other stall holders again, as there is a lovely sense of community between us. There is a great mix of gourmet foods and handcrafts on sale. I'll try to remember to bring my camera so I can post somepictures for you guys.

New Listings...1950s Pin-ups

Yikes I'm tired, I just spent the past few hours listing my pocket mirrors and large badges in my etsy shop. I've had these for the past two months but I was too busy over Christmas to list them. Today I got up and went straight into taking lots of photographs. It's really satisfying when a batch of photography goes well, sometimes things like dead batteries and bad light can be so frustrating. After a brief hiatus of a coffee and some yummy cake with my friend John I returned to start editing the pictures.

I've been meaning to do this for ages so it's been a particularly good day to get a good lot of them done. As for tomorrow, more photos, and more listing. I'm determined to get both of my shops full of goodies.
(PS: I'm still really excited to have a camera....can you tell?)

New Pocket Mirrors

I've been a busy little bee trying to get my new designs done for my pocket mirrors. It was this time last year that I put in my big order and they sold like hot cakes over the Christmas season, I suppose people thought they were good stocking fillers. I have decided to move away from the designs using models faces as they don't sell as well, so I've gone for the more pop/kitsch stuff, which is always lots of fun to design. I've kept about 10 of the old designs and added 35 new ones. I was a lot of work to get this all done, but a wide variety will mean they will sell faster. I ordered a total of 500, and 200 large badges with the same designs. I found when I was selling the mirrors some people were very disappointed that they weren't badges, so hopefully these will sell well too.
Also in this order we got a great present for Johns Dad (I don't think he is a blog reader so he will never see this). He runs a local football club and we got 100 badges with his logo on them, to give to the supporters and to have as memorabilia. For someone who is impossible to buy for I thought it was a cute Christmas present. I buy them all off a girl in America, kungfucowgirl, she is great to work with and I've found her service and prices fantastic. They would also be cool for wedding favours, hen night gifts etc.
