Happy Barbootsale

This is me looking very delighted with myself at the Barbootsale in Dr.John's on Saturday. Notice the delightful pint on Plain in my hand, it's like Guinness but a whole lot nicer. It was a really fun day, as most of the other sellers are friends of mine. It was a treat to have a few drinks, lots of chat, do a bit of shopping while still technically working.
Mostly I was just selling clothes, cds, dvds scarves and books, but I also decided at the last minute to include some of my crafts.
This are my newest collection, last week I made up a bunch of shrink plastic adjustable rings. They were really popular so I'll definitely be making more, I just need to order more ring blanks.

Some lovely crafty thing from Jess of Bettyoctopus, I got one of her adorable necklaces last year.

Very pretty things from Oh Sew Pretty...I have four of Ericka's cushions in my house and I want more!
Earrings by Orla Redican of Farapinalia, I have lots of these earrings, I think I might even be addicted to buying them.

Barbootsale This Saturday

I'm doing a junk clear out, and trying to make a few quid while I'm at it. My friend Nora runs a pretty cool event called The Barbootsale(like a car boot sale without the car, with a bar and DJ instead!). I've talked about it before in this post, and bought some cool things at it too, but I've never sold anything at it. After my mammoth clear out recently I've had a bunch of clothes sitting in a pile in my room waiting for someone else who will love them. I've also decided to sell off lots of my cds as I don't listen to them anymore and I have them all on my computer already. I also have a sony mp3 player that I'm tempted to sell....but I'm in two minds.
To beef up the selection I'll take some books from Bazaar Tales, and also some button rings too as I think they will be popular with the crowd. Stuff better beware in my house over the next couple of days, if it's not nailed down it's likely to be shipped off to the barbootsale.

If I get at all organised I might take some photos of the clothes and post them on facebook to drum up a bit of pre-sale excitement.

It's on this Saturday in 31 Thomas Street (aka Dr.John's), and it's 2-6pm.

Shopping at the Barbootsale

Last Saturday I went to the  Barbootsale (which I blogged about here), and I picked up a selection of treats for myself and bargaintastic prices. I've been meaning to buy some art from Dish Pig for ages, I missed his last exhibition so when I heard he would be selling at this I put some money aside. Although I hadn't intended on buying 4 pieces!! At €10 a pop though I couldn't really resist though. I have a thing for sets of 3, and also for robots, so it was quite logical that I would buy this triptych, I love the detail of the black and white one contrasting with the bold shapes of the two colour pieces sitting either side of it. My friend Emmet Kierans was also selling his work too, and I paired his tv man with another one from Dish Pig to make this set. We already have one of Emmets pieces, I like his two distinctive styles, his painterly fine art work, and also his grubby seedy cartoonish pieces.

Aside from splurging on art I also picked up this very Mad Men looking dress for only €5. When I got home and tried it on it actually is a little tight across the chest. I would get away with it, but at the moment(due to the ongoing detox) I'm loosing weight on a continuous basis, so I'd say in another month or so it will be that little bit more comfortable. On top of being adorable, a lovely shade of green, in thick warm material, it also has pockets which in my book makes it a total winner! I also picked up this lovely dresy scarf. I can't remember how much I paid for it, but I know it was really reasonable. I also got a really fun button necklace from fellow blogger Claire-Ann for only €1!
