Feeling Irish

I was feeling rather patriotic last night after I went to the polling station to vote so I came home and made this Irish themed treasury. I'm not feeling very optimistic about the outcome, or that their will be any great change in the near future...but I voted anyway. It's feeling all very doom and gloom in Ireland at the moment, I'm surprised a lynch mob hasn't started with all the things that have been happening here.

I've also been meaning to make some specialised items for St.Paddy's day, mostly because Irish sellers get featured so often in treasuries over the next two weeks. But also so I can sell them at the market. After looking for a while on google I could only come up with 4 images for Paddy's Day earrings. I think my favourite is the pint of Guinness, and I will definitely make myself a pair to wear to the pub. Click here to see them in my shop.

I need to come up with some more designs but my brain is making a charming tumbleweed sound instead of coming up with fab ideas...grumble.

The Luck of St.Patrick

Excuse the following excitedness, I'm still in a little bit of shock. This morning I saw a a thread in the Etsy forums posted by admin looking for Irish people to write an article for Storque about St.Patricks Day, and being Irish and all that jazz. So with a few minutes to spare before I had to rush off to work I rattled off a quick convo saying I would be interested,that I was big into blogging, and that I'd like to do a piece based on Limerick and the great young party atmosphere the city has. I want to avoid the whole green shamrock Oirishness, and make it more modern. Low and behold 10 minutes later there was a reply back from Etsy admin saying sure thing we love your ideas!! So I'll be posting the St.Patricks Day special for Etsy, yey happy days. To those of you who are familiar with Etsy you know that this is a big deal, and to be honest I'm kinda terrified by the pressure of it, but it's also very exciting. Hopefully this will be a good opportunity to get my shop seen and maybe an avenue into writing more things for the Storque Blog. It get's about 20,000 30,000 readers a day, so at a guess I should get a few extra hits on the shop.

So I better get my-green-thinking cap on!

Ode to St.Patrick

It's official I've been a very bold blogger over the past week or so, especially after my prolific start to the year. I do have a good excuse I've been a busy lady.
As usual I've been pumping lots of energy into my supplies shop, and I'm quite chuffed with how sales have been tipping away lately. So all the good work is paying off, for once :) . I've also been doing lots of sewing, developments are afoot with the shop that sells my work in Kilkenny....more exciting news of that next week I promise.
I've also been trying to get together some St.Patricks Day themed items for the upcoming celebrations. Etsy have made some noises about focusing their attention on this green holiday and I thought I'd hop on that bandwagon and see where it led me. During the week I made these quite sweet patriotic pincushions. I'm happy with how they turned out, they have the tricolour but they don't look like mantle piece decoration from the house of Darby O Gill.
Add on top of that Valentines Day, and myself Johns 3 year anniversary, all in all it's been a pretty hectic week!! Phew, I even feel tired typing all that.

For the love of all things Irish...Happy Paddy's Day

In Celebration of all things Irish, for Paddy's Day, I'm posting some links to lovely Irish things. Wherever you are in the world have a great day. I'll be waiting on tables in the restaurant, which will be demented with kids, but I finish at 6pm so then I'll do some more packing, and afterwards go for a few pints in the pub John works in. It's nice to have him run around and get me things like pints and taytos.
