Crafty Jars

As regular readers will know I'm preparing to sell my work in Limerick Craft & Design shortly, this has meant that I've had to label and package all of my work. Mostly this has meant making lots of stickers and buying jewellery boxes(I'll be doing an article later in the week on packaging and branding). I ran into a problem when I got to my finger pincushions, they are too small to attach a label too, so I had to come up with some way of displaying them. When I looked at boxes online they were all the wrong size. It had to be a cheap solution, but I wanted it to look nice.

I started looking around my studio for boxes or cardboard that I could reuse. That's when I came across my stash of glass jars. I remembered this tutorial I found on Pinterest for decorating jar lids and knew I was onto a winner. I took a load of photos of how I decorated the lids and I'll post the how-to here tomorrow.

All I had to do then was to figure out what to put in the jars. I have 1000's and 1000's of buttons, so I put together little bags of matching buttons, I also included a meter of ribbon in each jar too. I then found a source online for folding scissors, they will be a fantastic addition to the jars and really make this the perfect crafters kit. I'm hoping they will sell well coming up to Christmas as gifts for friends and family. I'll be selling them for €12, which is a great deal as I used to sell the pincushions by themselves for €10.
